Mostviertel in summer
Cider is a traditional Austrian drink made from fermented apple or pear juice and gives the Mostviertel its name. During the annual Moststraße flowering season, thousands of fruit trees are in full bloom and the landscape is transformed into a sea of fragrant flowers. Along the famous Moststraße, a picturesque route through the region, you can visit numerous cider taverns, traditional inns offering regional delicacies and, of course, cider. The Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, with the striking Ötscher as the highest mountain in the Mostviertel, offers a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The Ötschergräben, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Austria”, invites you to enjoy spectacular hikes along rugged rock faces and idyllic waterfalls. The Mostviertel also has a lot to offer culturally. For example, Amstetten Castle or the baroque Benedictine Melk Abbey, which towers majestically over the Danube and is considered one of the most beautiful monasteries in Europe.
