Southern Carinthia in summer
Southern Carinthia, which combines classic Alpine mountain scenery with Mediterranean flair thanks to its southern location on the Slovenian border, is an ideal destination for nature and culture lovers. Lake Klopeiner See, one of the warmest bathing lakes in Europe, is ideal for swimming and cycling, while the Petzen in the Karawanken mountains inspires with its hiking trails and breathtaking views, which can be reached by cable car for young and old. The town of Völkermarkt, with its historic town center, invites you to take a stroll through its picturesque alleyways. Here you can visit the Gothic parish church of St. Magdalena or stroll through the weekly market, where regional products are on offer. St. Paul Abbey in Lavanttal is one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Austria and is known for its impressive library and art collection.

Mountain biking in Southern Carinthia
Single trails are the salt in the soup. At least for mountain bikers! An attractive downhill, of which there are plenty in Carinthia, Austria’s southernmost province, makes bikers’ hearts beat faster! Once you’ve been bitten by the flow bug, you won’t be able to shake it off any time soon with the bike parks on the Petzen, for example.
