Traunsee - Almtal im Sommer
The Upper Austrian Traunsee-Almtal region impresses with its diversity. The town of Gmundn on the northern shore of Lake Traunsee is the region’s special highlight. It is best known for its ceramics production. The Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur has been producing the famous green and white tableware for centuries and offers guided tours where visitors can experience the traditional craftsmanship up close. Another architectural gem is Schloss Ort, a historic moated castle on Lake Traunsee, which is now open to the public as an event venue and for guided tours. The Almtal, located south of Lake Traunsee, impresses with its untouched nature and idyllic landscapes. The Almsee at the end of the valley is a picturesque mountain lake that is ideal for hiking, fishing and boating. Another natural gem is the Cumberland Wildlife Park Grünau nature reserve, which is home to native and exotic animals in a natural environment covering over 60 hectares.
