In the past, two guards stood watch here day and night to ensure the safety of the residents from fire and enemies. In the darkness, gatekeepers and guards had to shout “So, G’sell, so!” loudly.

A special highlight is that even today, the tower watchman on duty calls out this former guard call every half hour from 10:00 PM to midnight from the tower room!
