The Lohsepark
The green heart of the HafenCity
Right next to the JUFA Hotel Hamburg HafenCity sits Lohsepark, the largest park in HafenCity.
A green oasis
This elongated 4-hectre park is at the centre of the Lohsepark quarter and separates the district between east and west. When leaving the hotel, this lovely park is the first green oasis you‘ll encounter. The park consists of lush flowerbeds, a café and countless leisure-time opportunities. There is a large playground for children including a climbing frame, trampoline and basketball hoop, plus space to skate and climb – the perfect place to let off some steam! There is also the opportunity to pick fruit directly from one of the 60 fruit trees. Due to its immediate proximity to the JUFA Hotel HafenCity, the Lohsepark is the place for recreation, play and leisure. Here, you can soak up some sun, recharge your batteries – simply take a break and enjoy!
A park with history
The Lohsepark was named after the building engineer Hermann Lohse, who was responsible for the construction of Süderelbbrücke and Norderelbbrücke. The former Hannoversche Bahnhof, home to today’s Lohsepark, was also built by Lohse, hence the name. In memory of this station, there is “denk.mal Hannoverscher Bahnhof”, a memorial site consisting of three elements. It consists of a remnant of the one-time station platform, the “Fuge” (gap) along the former route of the tracks, and an archive, dedicated to the history of deportation in Hamburg.
