Besides alpine skiing, the Kaiserau offers the best conditions for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. An extensive and idyllically laid out cross-country ski trail leads around the castle – for sporty folk as well as everyone chasing sunshine.
Whether classic or skating, you can cross-country ski in Gesäuse at every turn. In Hall, there is a cross-country skiing center with a Styrian cross-country skiing seal of approval and 33.5 kilometers of trails and there are also trails in Admont, Kaiserau, Kirchenlandl, Ardning, Altenmarkt and Palfau. Those who do not bring their equipment with them aren’t out of luck, but can borrow everything to get on track at the Pörl Sport Shop in Admont or on the Kaiserau.
The baroque castle Röthelstein offers the perfect setting for your relaxed cross-country skiing vacation! It is located in the middle of the Gesäuse National Park, high up in the mountains in the market town of Admont, known for its Benedictine monastery and the world’s largest monastic library.
If you prefer a more quiet time, you are sure to find the perfect nook within the castle walls to leisurely read a book or simply enjoy the moment.
