The popular health resort Bad Ischl is located in the center of the Salzkammergut and combines culture with nature idyll. The town also calls itself "Kaiserstadt" – a special highlight is the Kaiservilla, the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth (Sissi). Bad Ischl was also the summer residence of many popular composers, especially Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár and Johannes Brahms.
Lake Grundlsee is set in the wonderful mountain landscape of the Toten Gebirge. A perfect place for a swim amongst nature. With an area of 5 km² Lake Grundlsee is the largest lake in Styria. It is also known as the "Styrian Sea". The only nudist beach in the Styrian Salzkammergut is near Gasthof Murbodenhüttl.

Grafenwiese night toboggan run in Tauplitz
On two runners you speed down into the valley – and there is plenty to laugh about. On the special hire toboggans, the drag lift takes you comfortably up the mountain, and then rushes back down the prepared piste at up to 60 km/h – this provides plenty of adrenaline. Combined with a hearty stop at a mountain hut, you can look forward to an atmospheric and adventurous experience. The Grafenwiese-Rodelbahn is located directly in the Tauplitz ski area with a car park on the toboggan run.

The JUFA Hotel Grundlsee*** is located directly on the idyllic shores of Lake Grundl in the district of Gössl and can be reached easily by car. Guests can make use of the free parking spaces for cars and buses.
Travelling from Graz: Take the Liezen exit off the A9 – take the B320 Ennstalbundesstrasse – turn right in Trautenfels – take the B145 towards Salzkammergut – continue towards Ort Grundlsee (as written) – continue through the village – continue along the left hand side of Lake Grundl until you reach Wienern/Gössl – continue straight on for 2km into the district of Wienern. The no entry sign does not apply to guests staying at the JUFA Hotel.
Travelling from Vienna: A 1 to the Regau exit – continue on the B 145 via Bad Ischl to Bad Aussee – drive through Bad Aussee towards Ort Grundlsee (as written) – continue through the village – drive along the left hand side of Lake Grundl until you reach Gössl – at the roundabout at the end of the lake – continue straight on for 2km until you reach the district of Wienern. The no entry sign does not apply to guests staying at the JUFA Hotel.
Travelling from Salzburg: A 1 to the Thalgau exit – continue on the B 158 to Bad Ischl – change onto the B 145 towards Graz – through Bad Aussee towards Ort Grundlsee (as written) – continue on through the village – drive along the left hand side of Lake Grundl until you reach Gössl – at the roundabout at the end of the lake – continue straight on for 2km until you reach the district of Wienern.
