For the first time in history, the title of European Capital of Culture 2024 has been awarded to an inner-alpine, rural region: the town of Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut. Together with 22 other municipalities in Upper Austria and Styria, Bad Ischl is developing a cultural region that is reinventing itself through the intersection of art, culture, business and tourism.
Throughout the entire year 2024, with individual programme points already starting in 2023, more than 150 projects will be on offer across the region. Experience a fascinating and stimulating mix of local authenticity and global artistic diversity, and immerse yourself in inspiring artistic performances and lively discussions.
