Upper Carinthia in summer
Mountaineers watch out! The highest mountain in Austria can be found in Upper Carinthia. The almost 3,800-metre-high Grossglockner and the surrounding Hohe Tauern National Park offer countless hiking and climbing opportunities in a breathtaking Alpine setting. But the Mölltal Glacier also has plenty to offer hikers. The Raggaschlucht gorge, an impressive gorge in the Mölltal valley, is another natural highlight and offers an impressive experience with its thundering waterfalls and steep rock faces. Lake Millstatt is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation. This idyllic lake is ideal for swimming, sailing and stand-up paddling. The town of Spittal an der Drau is a cultural center in Upper Carinthia. Porcia Castle, a Renaissance jewel, is home to the Museum of Folk Culture and is known for its impressive architecture and the popular comedy plays that take place every summer in the castle courtyard.
