Extensive meadows, densely wooded mountain slopes and the murmuring Gurk river surround the JUFA Hotel Stift Gurk****, located in a historic monastery building and home to the Tulsi Ayurveda Centre.
Whether for an Ayurveda retreat, a family (hiking) holiday, a special conference or a pilgrimage – one thing is certain: the ambience in the baroque chapter wing and provost’s courtyard creates a unique setting for every occasion. The Ayurveda Centre builds a bridge between the spiritual ambience of the historic monastery and the ancient Indian art of healing and brings your body, mind and soul into harmony with authentic treatments and delicious Indian cuisine. Active holidaymakers can explore the area on one of the hotel’s own e-bikes or on foot on a hiking tour or discover the famous crypt in the adjacent Gurk Cathedral.
And of course, the Gurktal herbal paradise is not to be missed: Herbs are a huge part of the JUFA Hotel. If you like, you can choose the right scented pillow for the night yourself or try the effects of various infusions at the tea bar in the wellness area.
You will find variety in the Gurktal valley at any time of year. In summer, the outdoor pool or the countless hiking and cycling opportunities are tempting, while in winter you will be enchanted by the still and unspoilt nature. At Gurk Abbey
The hotel by the cathedral
The hotel is on Domplatz in Gurk, in the baroque chapter wing and provost’s courtyard of the abbey, right next to Gurk Cathedral. The nearest stations are Treibach-Althofen (12 kilometres) and Friesach (about 15 kilometres).

Meals are served in the vaulted restaurant, the Hemmastubn, the Hirter Stüberl and the Tulsi Stüberl for up to 15 guests, and there is also the abbey café and the sun terrace.
- Breakfast buffet from 7 to 10.30 am
- Dinner from 6 to 8 pm, as a buffet for groups of 10 or more, otherwise served at the table with a choice of dishes
Guests who are not staying at the hotel are welcome for breakfast and dinner too.

Getting there
Free parking for cars and buses is available directly at the hotel.
Upon arrival, we recommend directly accessing the hotel parking lot (entrance Gurk left / in front of the round tower left again). Accessing the entrance via the courtyard is not possible!
From the direction of Salzburg: via the A10 to St. Michael > exit B96/B95 to Stadl an der Mur > continue on the L63 via Flattnitz to Gurktalstraße B93
From the direction of Vienna:
route 1) via the A2 to the exit St. Leonhard im Lavantal > via Klippitzthörl > further direction Guttaring and Althofen > Friesacherstraße turn left towards Klagenfurt > in Pöckstein turn right onto Gurktalstraße B93
route 2) via the A2 to Völkermarkt/Ost > continue on B82 towards Brückl and Kappel until Pöckstein turn left onto Gurktalstraße B93
route 3) via the S6 to St. Michael junction > continue on the S36 towards Klagenfurt > B317/Friesacher Straße via Perchauer Sattel and Neumarkt to Pöckstein > turn right onto Gurtalstraße B93
